Her story

Missy

Maureen “Missy” Adams, 63, of Port St. Lucie, FL, formerly of Margate, NJ, passed away on October 12, 2026.

Born Maureen McDonnell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Missy grew up in a large family and shared a special bond with each of her brothers and sisters.

She spent most of her life in Margate, New Jersey, where her family was lucky enough to share a home with her wonderful mother for many years. Missy was a loving caretaker to her mother and other siblings. Her nieces and nephews were a huge part of her life.

The beach life

Missy loved the beach life. She spent full summer days on the beach at 29th and Pelham in Longport, surrounded by family and friends. She loved ski trips to the Poconos and Vermont with family and friends. She loved her Brunswick Ave friends who became family, and the local garage bar “Alex’s Place.” She enjoyed being Bob’s passenger princess on his Harley, hitting their favorite local spots with their favorite people. Those years also brought her favorite dog, Riley, whom she loved dearly. She was a member of Atlantic City Moose 216 and the Somers Point American Legion Auxiliary.

Florida sunshine

In December 2021, her dream came true when she and Bob moved into their beautiful Florida home with a pool. There she quickly made new friends with some great people from Mumbles, and enjoyed boat rides, beach days, and plenty of sunshine. Sitting out back by her pool with a few drinks was her oasis.

Her kitchen

Missy was a tremendous cook — everyone looked forward to her turkey dinners, her perfected family recipe of mac and cheese, and her famous cheesecake. She was funny and so much fun to be with. Missing her will hurt our hearts, but our love for her will always remain, and the memories we all shared will never fade.

Her family

Missy is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert “Bob” K. Adams III; her son, Robert K. Adams IV, and his wife, Domenique; her daughter, Tara Bodine, and her husband, John Bodine; her grandchildren, Aria Adams, Robert “Knox” Adams V, Johnny Bodine and Charlie Bodine; her brother, Bobby McDonnell, and his wife, Ro; her sister, Meg Perez, and her husband, Mike; and her sister, Jane Smith, who passed away four days later, on October 16, 2026, and her late husband, Patrick.

She was predeceased by her parents, Margaret and Martin McDonnell; her sisters, Kathy McDonnell and Jennifer “Patti” McDonnell; her brothers, Marty McDonnell and Kevin McDonnell; and her favorite dog, Riley.

Memorial services in New Jersey will be announced in the coming days.
